Wingbits knowledge
What is Wingbits?
Wingbits is a Swedish aviation-data company that operates a community-hosted network of more than 6,000 verified ADS-B ground stations across 120+ countries. It sells live and historical flight data to business customers and builds AI products on that data, including the Wingbits.AI assistant and monitoring agents.
Who it's for: Aviation businesses buying flight data, developers integrating an API or MCP, analysts and researchers, and the station hosts who run the network.
What it does
- Captures raw aircraft signals directly from the sky with its own receiving stations — it owns the data layer rather than aggregating third-party feeds.
- Sells live and historical flight data through APIs, data products, and an MCP server.
- Builds AI products on the data: the Wingbits.AI chat assistant and scheduled monitoring agents.
- Rewards station hosts for the coverage they add, which grows the network and the quality of installs.
What it does not do
- Aggregate or resell other networks’ feeds — Wingbits stations are locked and verified and feed only Wingbits.
- See aircraft that are not transmitting ADS-B.
- Hold maintenance records, ATC-filed flight plans, or ownership transaction histories.
Data used
- ADS-B messages received by 6,000+ community-hosted, verified ground stations in 120+ countries
- MLAT (multilateration) positioning across the network
- Derived signals: GPS-interference (NACp) statistics and ACAS/TCAS events
