Wingbits knowledge
What is the Wingbits verified ADS-B network?
The Wingbits network is a community-hosted ADS-B ground-station network with more than 6,000 verified stations across 120+ countries. Stations are locked and verified: every signal is authenticated to its receiving station, cross-checked across the network for spoofing, and feeds only Wingbits — making the data exclusive rather than aggregated.
Who it's for: Data buyers evaluating source quality, researchers verifying provenance, and hosts considering running a station.
What it does
- Authenticates every signal to the specific station that received it.
- Cross-checks positions across the network to detect spoofing.
- Processes 50+ billion data points per day with sub-second latency for 99% of data.
- Positions aircraft with MLAT (multilateration) across stations.
- Grows coverage on demand — density can be added at specific airports, corridors, or regions based on customer need.
What it does not do
- Share station data with other networks — locked, verified stations feed only Wingbits.
- Rely on the shared pool of hobbyist feeders most traditional networks draw from, so a Wingbits feed adds net-new coverage rather than duplicates.
- Receive aircraft that are not transmitting ADS-B.
Data used
- Raw ADS-B aircraft signals captured directly from the sky by Wingbits stations
- Per-station authentication and cross-network consistency checks
